HOW TO MAKE SUGAR SYRUP
AFTER ALL, IT’S COCKTAIL HOUR SOMEWHERE

Sugar syrup is an essential ingredient when making a number of cocktails, and an essential item for your home bar.

The best thing about it is, it’s so easy to make and can be whipped up in minutes.

As a key component for creating balance in any drink, you’ll find it in thousands of cocktails including Mojitos and Daiquiris.

What you’ll need:

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 sealable glass jar

Method:

Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and stir over a medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Bring to the boil, then let simmer for a few minutes. When cool, transfer to a sealable bottle or jar. Will last for up to 3-4 weeks in the fridge.

Essential Tip:

You can also infuse your syrups with various flavours by pouring the liquid into jars with different ingredients like basil, mint, rosemary, ginger, honey, raspberry and citrus. Once the syrup is cool, remove the additional ingredients.
